Last month I was lucky enough to have the oppotunity to visit Vitra’s Swiss headquarters and campus to get a better insight into the Vitra philosophy and some of their new product ranges.

As a design enthusiast, the trip was a real treat and I could have spent hours wondering around the various showrooms on the campus. The Vitra collection represents the very best of 20th Century design, from classics by the Eames’ and Nelson to innovative new products from the Brouellec brothers, and it was plain to see that quality design runs deep in the veins at Vitra.

Seeing the ‘Net n Nest’ office at the headquarters over the border in Germany was equally inspiring. For me the office represented the most forward thinking and holistic view of office design to date, with the needs of individual users and the office as a  collective catered for down to every last detail. It was the kind of office you would look forward to going to every morning!

Day2′s competitive side was on show this Wednesday as the team went bowling at All Star Lanes. Things started amicably enough but sure enough when things got close tensions rose, and Nick was left with the result hanging on his last bowl…in short, he missed, we cheered, we won!

Next stop was a curry on Brick Lane, a bit of bartering from Mr. Harding got us a free round of beer and popadoms and we were away. A great night was had by all… especially the winners!

Old Billingsgate Market was once again graced by the furniture industry last Wednesday for Mix magaxine’s annual knees up, ‘Mixology’.

 Day 2 would like to extend their thanks to Sedus, Elite, Ei2 and Nowy Styl for their invitations and hospitality on the night, a great time was had by all! Highlights (or lowlights..) of the night include some questionable dancing by the day 2 team, Rich’s cravate and the theft of a large purple baloon…

Fourtunately the camera only came out at the start of the evening while sobreity ruled, but this didn’t stop Brett from ruining what could have been a great team photo…. thanks mate!

So a great night was had by all, bring on next year!
